Workshop Or Networking Event?
Do You Need Time To Think?
As a busy business owner there is often little time in the day to complete all the task on our To DO list, let alone make time to think about the problems, issues, and challenges that we KNOW we need to work on!
People Motion can facilitate a Brains Trust workshop specifically for the people in your network or in your business.
When: Generally you need to book at lead 4 weeks in advance.
Where: We can come to your business, or find a suitable venue in your area
Cost: approx. $50 per participant (additional costs may be incurred dependant on venue hire)
Contact: Geoff Snowden 1300 282 239
What If I Had An Ideas Team?
Not going to happen, is it? If you are a small business, it would be GREAT to sit down with people who understand the pressures of running a business, and share the things keeping you awake at night, and have some suggestions about how to move forward.
Be Part of A “Brains Trust”
A Brains Trust is a group of business owners willing to share their experience, their failures, their success, to help each other to come up with ideas, and sometimes solutions to the problems you face.
The term “BRAINs TRUST” began as a reference for a group of close advisors to a political candidate (1932 President Roosevelt), prized for their expertise in particular fields. More recently the use of the term has expanded to encompass any group of advisers to a decision maker, whether or not in politics.
The BRAINS TRUST is a supported group of like-minded business owners, with differing backgrounds, who meet on a regular basis to generate ideas or solutions for existing business problems.
Isn’t it the same as Networking?
Business Networking is an activity by which businesspeople recognise, create, or act upon business opportunities. It can been seen as a cost-effective method of generating new business. Networking is about building relationships to generate revenue through business opportunities.
A Brains Trust is about developing your business practices and processes with the help of others to build your business, and to help others build their business. It’s about members taking turns at bringing a problem to the trust, and having the group put forward idea’s and suggestions. It’s also about looking outside of your own business for new thinking
How Does It Work?
The concept of the Brains Trust is to meet on a regular basis, and have a facilitated process to share a challenge of your business, and to utilise the knowledge and experience of other business owners.
Each session one or two members will share a challenge their business is facing. The other members of the forum provide suggestions, idea’s or even solutions for you to take back to your business and implement.
Members rotate through the role of “Challenger” (ie the person with that sessions problem), and have the opportunity to share their experience and knowledge with others – it’s about giving more than you get, however through the process you’ll learn new way’s and ideas to tackle your own business challenges more effectively, and develop some deeper relationships
What Is Involved?
Geoff Snowden, Principal of People Motion, will lead you through some suggested formats to generate ideas and review the challenge, and this will allow you to see how the session would run each month. Prior to the session, participants will be asked to submit a problem they would like to put forward.
We’ll also bring on board an additional facilitator to help on the night for larger groups.
What Happens Next?
At the end of the session you can sign up to participate in a smaller group (5-7 participants) which would then meet once a month (or more if the group chooses) to develop the Brains Trust.
The small groups could be facilitated for the first 2-3 sessions until the members are comfortable with the format and process.
Geoff can work with you to run a Brains Trust Group Workshop or Small Group in your area. Call him on 1300 282 239
